In 2011, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce hired a full-time state lobbyist. Since that time, nearly 80% of the items on the Chamber’s 2012 and 2013 state legislative agendas have been successful. In 2014, 60% of the items on the Lobbying Agenda were passed. The Chamber’s Business Advocacy Division continues to work on unfinished business and pending legislation for the 2015 legislative session.
In addition to attending meetings and legislative session in Columbia, the Chamber’s advocacy staff regularly attends local community meetings to act as the eyes and ears of the business community.
