Hurricane Preparedness for Business

Another hurricane season is upon us and with the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Hugo approaching, it is as important as ever to be prepared. The Chamber’s Business Continuity Planning Council will host a workshop on  “Hurricane Preparedness for Business”. The half-day interactive workshop will teach attendees how to plan for sustaining their business before, during and after a storm hits.  The exercise will give attendees a better understanding of how the public and private sector work together during a storm and provide the tools to write and refine their own business continuity plan.

You should attend if:

  • Your company does not have a busienss continuity plan
  • You have a plan and want to test it

Companies are encouraged to send multiple representatives.  The exercise will split attendees into groups by job function (IT, Operations, Facilities, HR/Finance, Communications) so discussion is specific to like roles within an organization.

Speakers include:
North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey
Scott Cave, Atlantic Business Continuity Services
Rob Fowler, Chief Meteorologist, WCBD-TV 2
Cathy Haynes, Director at Charleston County Emergency Preparedness Division

Time:  7:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Place: Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce
          2750 Speissegger Dr., N. Charleston

Cost: $35 non-members, $25 Chamber members
