Education & Workforce Development

Quality public education is the cornerstone to any community’s success.  The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce works to connect business and education to ensure students in our region are prepared for careers.

The Chamber’s Regional Education Council is comprised of area employers, each of the region’s four public school districts and Trident Technical College.  The Council meets monthly to develop the Chamber’s strategic plan for aligning high schools with employer needs to prepare students for careers – whether directly into a career after graduating from high school or to post secondary educations.  In addition the Council:

  • Works to engage business partners in area Career Academies
  • Identifies and recommends policy issues impacting education to the Business Advocacy Committee
  • Works to ensure the Chamber’s efforts align and support the Tri-County Cradle to Career Initiative
  • Recommends program, events and activities focused on education
