Charleston, partners launch Green Business Challenge

Charleston and six regional partners have launched the second Green Business Challenge to help businesses promote environmental sustainability and save money.

The second year of the challenge began Dec. 1 and will continue until Nov. 30, 2012. Any company in the metro area can participate in the Green Business Challenge but must submit a baseline scorecard by Feb. 29, 2012. Read More.

Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston - On Thursday, 12 January 2012, Commander Raymond R. Drake, United States Navy, relinquished command of the Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston to Commander Chadwick B. Bryant, United States Navy. Completing a 36-month tour as Executive Officer, then Commanding Officer, Commander Drake will transfer to Commander Carrier Strike Group EIGHT in Norfolk, VA. The ceremony’s guest speaker was RADM Donald P. Quinn, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee. Commander Drake was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by RADM Quinn for his service.
