The Chamber is your Advocate
As the voice of business in the Charleston metro region, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is committed to keeping our region competitive and improving the business climate. One of the best ways we can achieve this goal is through the legislative process. The Chamber works on behalf of our members to advocate policies and legislation that contributes to the growth and prosperity of our region.
What we Stand for
Each year the Chamber identifies top legislative priorities that we will pursue on a local, state and federal level. To see the Chamber’s current positions, download the Complete 2013 Legislative and Public Policy Agenda or to learn more about the Chamber’s process for developing and implementing the Legislative Agenda, please download the Guiding Principles.
Stay connected with business advocacy activity of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce by following Bill the Blog and using the RSS feed feature. The site is a resource for members, providing background information and invovlement in several policy areas, such as workforce, regulatory, infrastructure, military and environmental. The portal provides voter resources, access to local, state and federal elected officials, recaps of area council meetings and weekly lobbyist reports during the state legislative session. Also, follow the Chamber lobbyist on Twitter @chaslobbyist.
Although the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce works closely with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, every chamber of commerce is independent of all others. The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) organization and is comprised of more than 2,000 organizations that invest in our Chamber on an annual basis. We are a broad-based business association with members across all business sectors. Consequently, the positions we take have a consensus that reflects the needs of a wide range of industries and that keep the overall interests of the business community in mind.
